Day 4
Again, it's still not easy. But it never was supposed to be. I got a little frustrated with the grid and the 3d grid. They were supposed to be my strongest, but I guess not. Anyway, I'm coming up with some interesting game concepts. I might bust out Unity sooner or later and actually try making them.
Still mishearing letters on Decoder. I know I heard "P" when it says he said "G". I really heard "D" on this one but it wasn't on there, so "E" it was.
Reminds me that I've been reading Don Norman's The Design of Everyday things. He's been talking about memory and "knowledge in the head" vs "knowledge in the world". Also talking about memory and cogintion models from the late 80s. Don't know how much to trust that stuff. I wonder if there's been an update.
Despite some crossed wires, I am killing it today on Decoder.
They tried to trick me by including letters that I had heard in my options. But I've still got it.
Holy crap this level is insane.
Just thought of an interesting way to do the light panel: have a grid of landmarks. show a series of turns each with an associated landmark. It does introduce dependence, where the light sequence is completely independant...
The grid is killing me. I'm constantly missing the last one or something late in the sequence.
Ugh, I finally get one. Something has been off on my counting, I don't know what's going on.
Numerically speaking, I was really on top. Average was almost higher than the previous highest and the Highest jumped way up. So a win in the end, but a tough one.
Going with input module. Need to get away from dots for a little while.
One of the hardest parts about input panel is remember where in the sequence you stopped clicking.
Wish I could sort by average on the high scores table. My avg went way up even though I didn't get the highest.
I feel like I should say something about the last game. The way I've been remembering it was to make planar triangles and then just memorizing the last 1 or 2. I almost always had the points down, and the origin, but had the "sign" wrong and would try going in the opposite directon. Or I would totally miss the one after the plane.
Maybe there's some kind of fruit-ninja or race car game you can make out of that where you have to swipe the path. Only the turns of the track are shown and it is paced longer and longer to make you keep it in your head. Points are awarded the closer you are to the path.
Squeeze ball reminds me that I need to give blood today. Free cookie and maybe even a new squeeze ball.
Rotating dots was pretty good, though I spent a lot of time thinking about other things in between. Rotating data link wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
Last one: blind input module.
Wait. Is my blind input module score higher than the regular? That's crazy.
Trying with my eyes open this time. Seems harder.
The numbers just get jumbled up in my head. I can tell you which ones were said, but the order is much harder.
I caught myself almost doing it this time. I was thinking about the sequence and almost didn't hear the next number. I know that just happened on the one before it, since I didn't hear a 5 at all.
