Day 18
I haven't had a ton of success with Mondays, but I think I can come out alright today. I slept fine, except that I somehow got a huge kink in my neck and shoulders. I took a nice warm shower and that helped, but it's still there a bit and will likely stay for most of the day. The good news is that I think I can ignore it for the most part.
Anyway, let's get started. Rotating Dots and Sorter are both still off the board, so today I'll start with Space Whack.
So what are these things anyway? I mean obviously they've overpopulated this otherwise lifeless rock mass (asteroid?). This must be the one asteroid that never gets blown up in the other game, otherwise this whole mess would be over with pretty quickly. Or maybe each run is one asteroid that I missed in the previous attempts. Or an asteroid that somebody else missed in a completely unrelated game. It would make sense to clear them out. I mean the asteroids bounce off of the Earth with total impunity, so we must have constructed some kind of kinnetic barrier and we're just protecting our indigenous species from these hyper-reproductive space gremlins. I just hope others are doing their part as well.
They must also be eating the rare high-density minerals (Irridium, Palladium, etc ... you know, the Mass Effect elements) which clearly disagree with their digestive systems and also explains why we want to keep this rock intact.
I love the stretch between each one. It gives you just enough time to mouse over the crater and then think "wait, is it really this one?"
And I'd love to see the statistics. I bet that it's almost always the 2nd or 3rd to last one that I've been missing most of the time. I wonder if they track that. I know each run gets sent up.
... That or the first one ...
The other great thing about that pause is that when you think "well it could be that one-" it pops right up without having the chance to decide and move your mouse.
Ok, not bad. I maybe wrote too much, but whatever. I scored alright, and I think I was playing at my peak.
On to the Grid.
And I totally clicked on Rotating Grid by accident. Oh well, we're here anyway.
Did ok. "Thanks for helping me ouut." "No prooblem, Space Canadian."
I think I'm going to move Input Module up.
So in the cases where I don't get it right, I usually try to figure out what it was supposed to be based on what I remember and what they tell me. E.g. It must have been 57 instead of 75 because they're telling me the next one was 5.
I just wonder what happens when you tell people that did remember it right that they were wrong and give solid evidence of it. What happens to their brain? What happens in their following attempts. This must have been studied. Dr Robinson probably knows.
That sort of reminds me of one of my rants on inconsistent systems. That takes up too much time and space and honestly belongs in the coding blog that I've never actually posted to.
Hm not the best. I seem to have a lot of stuff going on today.
Now the regular grid. I'm going to try to keep a pace up.
Alright, just keep going. Don't stop and think.
Not bad!
Looks like I'm back on Stabilizer. Feeling good.
On to Data Room. Just have to keep the momentum and I'll be fine.
After looking at the videos, I think I would really prefer the 3D Grid in Cogmed QM over this one. It seems easier to see which panel is lit up. The lights are harder to see and hold on to.
Didn't do that great. My highs have been clustered with a few spikes, though my average was better than a lot of the ones on the board.
Almost done.
Not bad on Blind Input. It's harder and harder to make a stunning score, but I'm glad I can stay this high on the board. Hopefully my bars are getting shorter and averages staying up.
And decent on Asteroids. Followed by a stunning victory and a terrible defeat in the races.
